A Magical Lighting Design in the Golden Horn
Istanbul Design Week, that important events of Istanbul and design, took place between 28 September - 3 October at the historical Galata bridge. Unlike other years, lighting design and light installation brought a different understanding to Istanbul Design Week for the first time this year. Blue reflections were created in the water at night by illuminating the bridge, one of the important works of the era with Ottoman motifs and workmanship that connect Eyüp and Sütlüce, the important coasts of Istanbul. The motifs on the bridge and steps of the bridge in the Sütlüce side were surrounded by amber-colored led like a precious jewel, to be handled with the Golden Horn concept and to offer different experiences to the visitors. To refer to the water of the Golden Horn, the projections of the water were followed by using turquoise color on the stair handrails.
The light installation with the sunset concept applied to the structure inside the bridge reminded the visitors of the colors of Istanbul at sunset and provided the discovery of the reflections of the Golden Horn from a different angle. The sunset on the carriers of the bridge was presented to the visitors as if they witnessed the Galata Bridge meet the sun like in the old days.
The magic of light in the space was combined with the design, and the visitors were presented with a wealth of lighting design.
The blue led tiny lights that were dropped into the sea on the lower floor of the bridge symbolized the sea sparkle on the sea after sunset.
All wiring and assemblies of the lighting event were carried out by the teams of the IBB Energy Management and Lightening. It was aimed to add enthusiasm to space by reflecting colored lights on the parking lot and the surrounding trees.
