Hıdrellez, where every spring revival of nature is celebrated, was celebrated with enthusiasm this year, and the themes of wishes and hope were at the forefront in the 11th Ahırkapı Hıdrellez Festivals. Representing renewal and purification, the traditional Hıdrellez fire never went out this year.
The radar tower, which was first illuminated like a torch seen from all over the park, welcomed about 150,000 people gathered in the Ahırkapı Park on the seaside. The head of the tower was illuminated by red floodlights and fluorescents. A flame effect was reflected on the body to emphasize the fire.
In one part of the Boukoleon Palace relic wall, blue and red projectors were used to represent fire and water, and the other side was illuminated with various colors, just like a rainbow, to emphasize the arrival of spring and the colors of nature. Thus, the enthusiasm of spring was once again felt for the participants of the Hıdrellez Festivals.
The video explaining the history and meaning of Hıdrellez and telling the story of Hızır and İlyas was watched from the wall of the palace throughout the night. Besides, wishes such as home, car and marriage that are among the most important parts of Hıdrellez, were reflected on the palace wall. So the wishes came back to life all night long.
