The Grand Tarabya Hotel, which opened as one of the first 5-star hotels in Istanbul in 1954, reopened its doors to its guests in May 2013 as The Grand Tarabya Hotel after the structuring works realized with the investments of Bayraktarlar Holding.
While the facade of the building carries the characteristic architectural lines of its period, it also integrates with the natural form of the coastline. In the facade lighting principle, it is aimed to emphasize this characteristic structure.
Balconies of the bedrooms on the front facade have regular planning, measurement, and shaping, and the balcony ceilings designed to be inclined outward. The sloping balcony ceilings were illuminated and the rhythm on the facade was tried to be emphasized in the lighting project. Luminaires operate depending on the automation system created for facade lighting and are programmed to be controlled separately or together in scenarios prepared for use on special or other days of the year. The podium that carries the bed floors on the front of the hotel is illuminated with a linear light band throughout and the relationship of the building with the form of the coast is emphasized.
It was suggested to use the large deaf surface on the back of the facility, which overlooks the terraces with pool, as a message surface for people looking back at the facade and thus, the deaf facade was differentiated with a Video Mapping application and turned into a dynamic screen to be used in special day×. A special platform that is resistant to external conditions in the back terrace landscape area was prepared for this application, which was studied especially in facade sizes at selected special times of the year, and it was aimed to reflect images from an appropriate angle. As one of the most important points in the lighting systems designed on the front and rear is that there is no light entering the rooms, all solutions were tested on-site and prepared by projecting with the relevant expert teams.
The rooms and corridors, which are one of the places where energy consumption is the most and where energy efficiency is required to be increased, have been prepared in accordance with architectural shaping. Rooms and corridors; resolved with special production products that are functional and all of which are LED light sources, can affect the facade lighting minimally and will not impair night vision for the guests looking at the Bosphorus from the inside.
In the ground floor, lobby, small ballroom, and restaurant sections formed by a simple design on sea themes, the lighting design is aimed to provide parallelism in this direction. Aiming to increase the visual comfort by minimizing the reflection of light in the glass with special settings and specially designed spots in these spaces facing the sea.
Detailed LED light sources are specially designed in massage rooms designed with personalized color therapy concepts and all general places in the SPA area.
Since the hammam section is in a position that does not receive daylight, an illumination design has been made to keep the old Turkish baths alive. In this design, an armature similar to the elephant eye in old baths was designed and impressive light beams were obtained. A relaxing atmosphere was designed with a combination of golden and green colors in the indoor pool.
In the lighting system designed in the restaurant prepared with the theme of fish and sea at the seaside; Special spots are designed to reflect the copper color temperature that does not glare and dominate the space. It is aimed to create a soft borderline with the light of the bollard on the terraces of the podium that opens out from the bar and junior ballroom. The specially designed bollard has a dual function and can meet the need for socket outlets on the terrace as well as a lighting task.
