This month, we are hosting Master Architect Ali Osman Öztürk, founder of A Design Architecture, in our “Dialogue” interviews on Lighting Design with our guests from different disciplines of the industry.

We talked about lighting design with Ali Osman Öztürk, who has been producing contemporary projects that are sensitive to the environment and increase the quality of life of people by continuing his architectural studies under the roof of A Tasarım Mimarlık, which he has been the founder of since 1997.

1. How does light affect your lifestyle in your life, work, or home?

I am a person who loves light very much.

I work in my study room at home by turning on four different lighting fixtures at once. The same goes for the office.

Soft, light tones that touch the soul are always my preference. I always believe in a balance, a determination.

2. Which of the following is included in your Lighting Design project/investment? Why?

•        Science

•        Technical

•        Art

Science: Consider an office environment, a certain level of light is needed for people to work comfortably.

Technique: The technical progress provided by the discovery of electricity has given us surprises. For example, as I watch a thousand-year-old building that shines brightly in the darkness of the night and shows us its beautiful face, I wonder if those who designed it dreamed that such a thing could happen one day.

Art: While watching a play, an opera or a musical, I can't help but think about how light makes art more magnificent to us.

3. Do you think Architectural Lighting Design can add value to the project? 

Now, with the help of technology, we can talk about the night effect of buildings. We discuss their place in the city skyline. Now we are talking about lighting issues at the beginning of the projects.

4. What do you think the process of working with the Lighting Designer contributed to you as an investor/manager?

Lighting Designer gives us a different perspective. It contributes to strengthening the expression of the building and revealing its strengths. In addition, of course, it also produces technical and economic solutions.
